I have been involved in art in some form all my life, from drawing on whatever paper or surface was at hand in my younger days, to immersing myself in the art world in high school, to graduating from college in art and philosophy. As an adult, I have always supported myself by something either directly or indirectly connected with the arts. I was a wood turner for awhile, gaining a national reputation in that field when it was burgeoning in the 70's and 80's. Many of these pieces can be seen in museums (Renwick Museum is one) and private collections. The sawdust though was toxic for me and I had to quit and moved on to pastels, creating abstracted landscapes, with bold colors and shapes. I showed these throughout the US in the top festivals during the 80's and 90's. Life then determined that it was best for me to stay home, and I took up bookbinding, paper making, and working with my handmade paper in 3d wall sculptures. While this website is only concerned with my oil paintings, I am still creating paper and sculptural pieces. But....Oil paintings became very seductive to me, I love the texture of the oils, the vast range of effects one can get, the emotions that can be communicated. It is a very deep world to get involved in and just opened up doors for communication that enthralled me. I again am drawn to the abstracted landscape and architectural elements, with their deep veins of emotional impact.
My work can also be seen at the Weyrich Gallery in Albuquerque NM, 2935 Louisianna NE, 505-450-6516 and with Sara Eyestone, Art Representative, 505-577-4991, saraeyestone@yahoo.com, at the La Posada hotel in Santa Fe NM.
